Situated in the picturesque coastal town of Tyros in the Peloponnese, this family summer residence is the result of a meticulous reconstruction of a traditional local home. At Gekko Concepts, our vision was to honor the region’s rich architectural heritage while infusing the space with a distinct, contemporary artistic flair. The structural core of the house preserves the timeless appeal of Peloponnesian design, utilizing authentic stone masonry and natural wood elements, while classic white plaster has been applied to the interior walls, beautifully capturing and reflecting the abundant Greek sunlight within.
For the interior spaces, we curated a design narrative that effortlessly bridges the gap between rustic charm and modern sophistication. High, airy ceilings with exposed white beams provide a clean canvas for eclectic furnishings, such as vibrant, patterned armchairs, organic-shaped seating, and bespoke lighting installations. Modern art elements, including striking wire wall sculptures and signature metal gecko motifs, are thoughtfully integrated throughout the home. As a subtle nod to Greek folklore—where geckos inside a house are cherished as symbols of good luck and prosperity—these artistic touches create a playful yet elegant juxtaposition against the raw, traditional textures, giving the residence a highly curated, gallery-like feel.
Beyond the interiors, our studio spearheaded the complete artistic direction of the surrounding outdoor environment, ensuring a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience. The expansive wooden deck features a custom-built stone lounge area sheltered by architectural sail shades, perfectly designed for Mediterranean summers. The true focal point of the exterior is the breathtaking pool—complete with a striking custom mosaic design—that merges flawlessly with the deep blue waters of the sea beyond. Every detail, from the landscape architecture to the custom outdoor textiles, was crafted to offer a tranquil, art-infused sanctuary for the family.
